Disc Herniation Pain Eased with Chiropractic

We've helped many patients in Hopkins, MN over the years who were plagued by back problems, and some of those patients had been diagnosed with a herniated disc. Earlier research has shown that chiropractic adjustments can be an excellent way to relieve the pain of disc herniation in the lumbar spine and other studies have shown that it can relieve herniations in the neck, too.

Now a new case report improves our understanding of the benefits of chiropractic for disc herniations. This study focuses on a 45-year-old woman who had a 2-year history of "chronic mild low back pain and right buttock pain." The patient described a worsening of the radicular pain down her right leg, and also experienced occasional tingling in her right foot. These are all signs of neurological complications, and are serious symptoms.

The patient sought help from a chiropractic physician, who managed the patient with chiropractic adjustments and "advanced myofascial release therapy." The therapy consisted of 2 weeks of adjustments and an extra month of exercise and rehabilitation.

The patient reported a "significant improvement in her low back pain and radiculopathy. In addition, she achieved some improvement in balance."

This article reinforces what we see in our Hopkins, MN practice: chiropractic care is great for decreasing the discomfort of disc herniations without drugs or risky surgery.
